COGNARD family

The family estate was founded by Lydie and Max Cognard in 1973, with 1 hectare of vines handed over by Simone and Bernard Taluau (Lydie's parents). Estelle and Rodolphe, their children, took over the running of the estate in 2013, but had already joined in 1997 and 2001 respectively.

The new generation of the Cognard house

Over the years, the company has grown and developed. Rodolphe left us in 2018 following an illness. Estelle continues to run the vineyard on her own.

Today, the estate boasts 15 hectares of vines in the Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil and Bourgueil PDOs. Only one grape variety is grown: Cabernet Franc.

In 2015, we began working our soils to allow our pretty Cabernet Franc to take root in the terroirs of Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil. As a logical next step, we began our conversion to Organic Agriculture. In 2020, the vineyard will be officially certified.
